This beginning weaving course is designed for both the complete novice and for weavers who wish to re-visit and refresh their warping and weaving skills. Students will learn the fundamentals of working a 4-Harness Loom. This entails identifying the parts of the loom, preparing the warp, dressing the loom, and operating the floor loom to produce a woven sampler item. Participants will learn all of the “how-to-‘s” of planning a project, reading a draft, choosing the best materials for the project and how to finish an item.
Class will meet once a week on Saturdays, weather permitting. If inclement weather prevents the class from occurring, an additional Saturday will be added. Weaving students are welcome to access the weaving studio during the length of this course (when the school is open). Projects include your own woven table runners, place-mats, scarves, or rag rugs.
No prior skills are required, but some physical flexibility is needed to work with the 4-harness looms. Please inquire with us on our Contact Page if you have any questions. Appropriate for all skill levels and for ages 16 and up.
