Connecting with Craft will begin on Saturday, October 6, with a special event open house at the Ozark Folk Center State Park Craft Village from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Visitors can catch breakfast at Skillet Restaurant while they are in the park or at one of the other fine restaurants in town before heading out to Connect with Craft.
Craft artisans will be demonstrating in a list of locations that includes Blanchard Springs at the springs; various sites near the town square including the Arkansas Craft School, the Arkansas Craft Guild gallery, etc.; the Painting Place for Mountain View Art Guild members and a lecture series on the history of craft in the area at the Stone County Museum; and to cap it all off there will be craft demonstrations and craft beer at Gravity Brewworks in Big Flat.
Visitors to Connecting with Craft can pick up their passports, with schedule of demonstrations, map of all locations and a photo description of each demonstrator at any Connecting with Craft location. Each artist can initial the passport when the visitor comes to see their demonstration. Visitors with the most Connections stamped will be eligible for hand crafted prizes at the closing party at Gravity. Visitors will also be able to win prizes donated by community businesses by sharing their experience of Connecting with Craft on their favorite social media with the hashtag #connectingwithcraft.
