This course is designed for students who are new to, or want to broaden their ability to use watercolors. Students will be introduced to a variety of watercolor materials and a wide range of techniques. The masters use these techniques in a multitude of ways to create luminous, fresh and exciting works of art. Learning them is the first step! Our focus will be on learning and experimenting with wet, “dry”, and subtractive approaches and becoming familiar with some of the different kinds of brushes and how to handle them. By class end, students will create a sampler (design) painting using their new knowledge. Basic materials, including paper, will be provided. Students are encouraged to bring supplies that they might have, including cake or tube paints, brushes or palettes.
